Hardware Board Design Engineer (Code: HBDE)
CarrierComm seeks a hardware development engineer to participate in the development of digital communications radios and network hardware. The selected candidate will be expected to:

  • Perform design activities including component selection, BOM generation, design analysis, schematic capture (using OrCAD)
  • Layout/route oversight (using PADS) on multilayer boards
  • Perform FPGA design using VHDL
  • Board test and debug, systems integration and customer support
  • Transition designs to high volume production with the use of In Circuit Test (ICT), Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT) guidelines
  • Generate/maintain board level specifications and test plans
  • Generate verification documents showing compliance to all specifications

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years experience in the design of digital communication radio and/or network systems. Position requires a BSEE degree (MS preferred). Good documentation, organization and team interface skills required. Must be able to work in a hands-on lab/integration environment on a variety of challenging hardware platforms. Experience should include:

  • High level knowledge of communication theory, modem design and telecommunications systems highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, E1/T1, STM-1 interfaces highly desirable
  • Design of multi-layer (8+ layers) circuit boards using controlled impedances, high speed logic, A/D and D/A converters
  • VHDL design for FPGA/ASIC implementations

US citizenship or the right to work in the United States is required.
